How to: remove about 10 pounds off of the nose of an Impreza..

1. Remove the grille, grille surrounds, and headlights.
2. Find and remove all of those little plastic fasteners that hold the bumper cap on the car.
3. Pull the bumper cap.
4. Remove the Styrofoam chunk. It is only held on by two alignment nipples.
5. With the Styrofoam chunk removed, you gain access to the holes for the top bumper nuts. Use a 14mm deep socket on an extension with a breaker barto break these free. The lower nuts can be reached without going through the bumper.
6. Next, unbolt the 14mm and 12mm bolts. There's one per side of the bumper.
7. Remove bumper. The bumper will be hanging in position on the studs, so don't worry about it falling when you loosen the last bolt.
8. Install the new bumper. Torque to 51 - 87 Ft/Lbs (this is going by early model Imprezas). The studs should line everything up with the bolt holes.
9. Install the bumper cap, headlights, grille, surrounds.
10. Test bumper by driving into telephone pole.
