Article on: Key Modification

I made a cool key mod for the WRX. Its kinda like the Audi/VW , Mercedes key idea. Actually i think its the JDM WRX key mod.

TOOLS:
Small Philips Screwdriver
Drill with 5/6" bit
Dremel or similar cutting tool
Small piece of electrical Tape
Exacto Knife or other sharp knife

STEPS:
Drill a hole through the valet key as noted in the picture.
Remove the 2 screws on the back and split the fob apart.
Break off the pieces in the empty side of the key fob.
Line the hole in the key up to the top hole and mark where you will need to cutout the sides of the keyless entry fob.
Once you have a snug fit with the key in the sides (you may find it easier to cut the pink rubber strip as well) you can cut the back end of the key off with the dremel.
Place a piece of electrical tape over the two chips inside.
Place the big plastic hole through the hole in your key.
Place the two pieces of the fob together and get a snug fit with all pieces.
Replace the two screws in the fob and enjoy.
