Article on: Turbo Heat Shield Modification

After installing the BPM GT turbo-back muffler system i needed to figure out a way to reinstall the factory turbo heat shield. Because of the addition of a separate wastegate pipe on the downpipe the factory heat shielding just wouldn't go back on. I'm sure the car will be fine without the heat shield on there but i like the clean look of the heat shield and also wanted to try to keep all that heat off of my intercooler.

Tools:
Dremel or Hacksaw or Tin Snips or really sharp teeth!

Steps:
1.) When you reinstall the downpipe bolts to the turbo make sure to reinstall the factory heat shield bracket as well.

Once this is in place all you need to do is cut the factory heat shield and place it back onto the turbo bracket. You will only need to reinstall 2 of the factory heat shield bolts but this is more than enough to keep the heat shield tight with no rattling.

2.) If you look at the heatshield you can see that it is made from two pieces of metal. The top portion with the "hand" on it and the bottom portion. These two pieces are held together by spot welds. All you do is cut the top piece off of the bottom piece. Once you get the top portion off you can put it on the turbo and put in the two bolts closest to the intercooler.
Cut off everything With MARKER on it. You will be left with a half moon piece of metal that covers the turbo nicely.
