ISDC Annual Barbecue and Family Fun Day 2009The ISDC had its annual family day BBQ this year at the Rock Inn in Portlaoise on the 30th of August. The day was organised by club organiser Dan (ForesterSTi) with the huge help from members Diesel Tom, Noeler2009 and Turbo Tony. The lads had worked on this event for many weeks leading up and put their all into making it the event it turned out to be. They were also given a big hand by Keith09, NiallD and Ker99 setting up both on the morning of the BBQ and leading up to the event. Members met up all over the country that morning and convoyed to the Rock Inn in Portlaois, where on arrival Tom and Tony laid out the cars up the driveway of the Rock Inn - which looked the business more and more the day went on. The rain kept coming all day but that didn’t spoil the members and their families having a great day as there were a few gazebos as well as the pub to sit in while eating the great BBQ food served up by Noel and his family. The kids were kept entertained with the food, ice cream and bouncy castle which worked a treat. The DJ, our very own NiallD, also did a great job. "The Dent Eraser" was on site all day and a good few members were able to get those small annoying dents removed from their cars. The club's traders sponsored the event, giving €2,500 worth of prizes to be raffled off on the day with every member who attended getting a free ticket. The raffle was one of the main events, with so many top prizes from our sponsors Street Performance, Ali Burrows, STi Tuning, ASD Automotive, Couture d'Auto, JOMO Engineering, East Coast Customs, Top Gear, Carroll & Roche and Ferry's Garage. Prizes themselves ranged from a €50 voucher to a weekend away at a rally. The club also received payments for five new members on the day. It's great to see that the club is still growing with each event. Altogether 60+ members and 50+ family members came on the day. All went home happy with a belly full of food, prizes won and the more important chit chat which we all love that is Subaru. On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank all the lads involved and their families for making this day a great event for the club and also extend thanks to all the traders that contributed so many great prizes for the raffle. Paddy's Day at Mondello ParkThe committee would like to thank the members of the club who attended the track day on Patrick's Day and even though it was not an official event it sure turned out to look like one! The variety of Subarus in the parking lot was unreal with Classic, Bugeye, Blobeye and Hawkeye Imprezas as well as Legacys all on show for the onlooking public. With such good turnouts we do not see why this club can't grow and get bigger over the next year than it is already. I myself got calls from five friends saying how good a showing there was from our club later in the day and to pass it on to all of you. Well done also to the lads on track who did a great job as usual. So from me and the rest of the committee we would like to say a big thanks to all who attended this track day and the events we have had so far this year. Cheers lads! Keith |

ISDC AGM 2009 - Official ReportThe ISDC once again held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel. This time we decided to have an overnight stay in the hotel as a social get together and a few drinks. Up to 20 members had a great time on the Saturday night and were up to show their hungover heads for the AGM itself which brought nearly 100 Subarus to the hotel's car park. During the meeting itself the committee talked about changes to the committee which were, Brian Collins (STi Brian) stepping into the role of website moderator and Keith Brolan (keith555) stepping into the role of feature writer/photographer. Event organisers for specific areas of the country were assigned to: Also on the agenda were club events for the forthcoming year which will be planned out pretty much the same as last year with the exception of the overseas event with Scooby Shoot Out being dropped in favour of either Japfest or Ten of the Best - both being held in the UK. As for the club accounts, the club sits really healthily and as we all know of the bad times the country is in at the moment, the club will be helping out as much as they can with even more subsidised events. The benefits of which were already shown to the people who stayed over on the Saturday night receiving plenty of free drinks. New membership packs include the new club full member sticker 09, URL stickers, windscreen disc holders and a members yearbook which was perfectly put together, thanks to Paulo (Webmaster). The members were up in number from 201 in 2007 to 285 at the end of 2008. So lads, let's hope the forthcoming year's events have a big big turn out and we show the country what this club is all about. Keith |
