Rolling Road Day - November 18th 2006

Another great day out lads and an even better turnout.

Dave Lewis stole the show with 355bhp and won the ISDC Best BHP Gains Cup, not even the Evos could come close!!!

There were some great cars turning up on the bay but none more so than Philip's 500 bhp track monster, lovely motor :)

Fergus Hinds came in second place with Robert Barnes in third.

Big thanks to Martin Treacy of Westward Engineering, he's a great guy and really helpful at explaining to members what's right or wrong with their engine setup.

Abbeyleix Meet - November 26th 2006

Lads... yet another great day, there was a BIG turnout and a lovely selection of cars - I think it was 50 or so on the last count :)

Thanks to all who waited for the club meeting at the end, it's always great to get feedback from the members.

We (a group of cool dudes from Cork & Tipp) arrived in convoy nice and early for a change :p As with a lot of our events sometimes just getting there is as much craic as the event itself ;)

The weather held fine just till the end then it was gale force 10 all the way home :O

Big thanks to the Committee and The Abbeyleix Manor Hotel for all the tasty grub and laying on the conference facilites for us.

ISDC Charity Drive - 2nd - 3rd September 2006

This year's Charity Drive in Aid of Eoghan Gilmore was a huge success. Not just for the massive €16,000 raised by our members but also for the great fun we had in travelling around Northern Ireland and, of course, the odd pint or 2 we had on Saturday night. I can safely say it has to be one of the best Charity Drives with a great bunch of guys/gals taking part. The stage of the Donegal Rally we ran (Knockalla??), was one of the many high points for me and I can't wait to see some of the video footage... nice view and all from the top of that hill climb.

After getting of to a wet start with heavy rain leaving HB Dennis Subaru in Swords who very kindly filled us with tea/coffee and scones, the rain quickly died off as we headed for Belfast. One pit-stop for fuel before we crossed the border and we already had one or two miss the turn off but less said about that the better Carlo hey?? :)

It didn't take long to re-group and next stop was Donnelly's Subaru Belfast. Again there was loads of tea/coffee and sandwiches waiting for us. Donnelly's had a huge selection of cars even taking some members out for a quick blast in 350BHP STI Type UK and very kindly running a diagnostic check after the engine light flashed on one car - turned out to be a faulty sensor.

From Donnelly's we made or way over towards Letterkenny, with plenty of stops along the way, at one stage we even had a Toyota Corrolla who tried to join the convoy, not too sure was he trying to land on top of Dave's car or just inside it but we quickly left him behind.
The highlight of the weekend had to be the handing-over of the cheque. I really think to see the expression of sheer delight on the face of Eoghan's Mum really summed up what this weekend was all about. I would like to sincerely thank all who attended the drive and to everyone involved in raising funds - €16,000 was a huge figure and I know the Gilmore familly were truly delighted.

A big big thank you has to go to our committee for putting in such an effort, everything ran pretty much to schedule. The polo-shirts and
stickers were a great idea (thanks Alan and Damien) and the little Subaru overalls John M got signed by the McHale familly went down a treat.

I think Stuart & Kevin have to be pointed out for special attention as they both worked around the clock to organise everything.

The Raddison Hotel Letterkenny looked after us very well, we got a great price on the rooms and dinner and i believe they were serving some of the hardened members well into the wee hours of Sunday morning!!!!

Once again thanks to ALL for the fund raising.

SLAM 06 & ProDrift Europe - 13th August 2006

Great Day yesterday and thanks to ALL who turned up lads!

The weather was fine, I even managed to get sunburned, how i managed that i don't know. The Drifting was excellent even though the break was a bit long but the final rounds with 2 cars out at one time was well worth the wait, with some very talented drivers.

Congratulations to Michael French who won the event.

I think we had 25 ISDC cars on display and it was great to see a lot of the new members along. (By far the biggest turn-out compared to the other clubs :)

The indoor arena had some nice machines but i think the lad selling the skateboards and the Alien inflatable things (??) for only 5 quid, cleaned up. Carlo was giving us displays on how to operate the "board" correctly hahaha!!!

Rosegreen Karting - 9th July 2006

Go-Karting was great craic yesterday :D

Thanks to Mick Keating & Co. for organising yet another great day's Karting and huge appreciation to Ellen Keating for supplying all the grub!

Gavin was the Overall winner!!! 1st place in a final full of controversy, cheating and brown paper bags being exchanged... enough to see any Italian Soccer team relegated with minus 40 points!!!

We don't know how he managed it, I mean driving a Daihatsu as your day-to-day car???? But... he was 1st..... So well done, enjoy and see YOU next year!!

Couture de Auto Meet - 11th June 2006

Great day, great turnout, great food; that is, thanks to Stuart and Ireland's newiest Celebrity Chef - Ray Casey.

The weather was fantastic and to see 52 Subarus all lined up and sparkling in the summer sunshine was brilliant!!

A very enjoyable day was had by all with a fantastic array of cars, from the classic shape Impreza all the way up to the 2006 "Hawkeye" and some Legacys too, also present was a 22B, WR1, RSKB4 Legacy, TypeRs and TypeRAs .
Dr. Nick and Ben of CDA were on hand all day to show the various products they sell and explain how they work. With some good discounts for ISDC members aswell. :)

Dr. Nick had his Honda 2000 and Ben his Evo "Tommy Makinen Edition" on display, fully kitted with Apexi and other products they sell.

Thanks for a great day and your expertise lads :D

In attendance were a number of the lads form up north - great to have ye down guys of which I'm sure was a very enjoyable "BLAST" to and from the event.

I also see JamesD and his mates made the trip over from Galway - hope to see ye all at the next one lads.

Jap Heaven Meet - Carrickfergus 23rd April 2006

Well lads what can i say !! A great Day for the ISDC and a great day for Munster isn't that right JohnM Ha!! Ha!!

An early start for ToshWRX and Myself all the way from the Sunny South (Cork). A lovely quite drive - blue sky and plenty of sun, we were off to a great start!! Picked up a number of cars on the trip to Dublin and rolled into Airside with 8 cars or so. We all left in convoy (looked brill), at least 20 cars, if not more and headed for Carrickfergus, with Alan RSKB4 leading the pack we got there in good time ;) Of course, all the CBs were out and the ever-vocal Mick Keating... well, what can I say... he wouldn't shut up! There was also some fella in a Black TypeR, which I'm told, people found hard to understand and a bit too loud, I don't know... I thought he was the coolest sounding bloke I've ever heard... less said the better... :D
Carrickfergus, all be it full, was packed with loads of fantastic cars and i think the more North we went, the better the weather got.
Finally we took a run over (I think getting to these places was as much fun as the events themseleves) to Bishopscourt, where we caught some very talented displays of what not to do at your local Tescos and the Drag racing... it really was very good, made all the better by our very own Renno and JohnM entering the Drag race. Well done lads!! Great display!!

Finally I would just like to say a big THANKS!! to Stuart(Chairman) and the commitee for organizing such a great event!!

Dublin Meet - April 17th - Easter Monday

There was an informal meet organised by the ISDC at the County Club on the N3 between Blanchardstown and Dunshaughlin on Easter Monday... we hope to have pictures up from the day soon, but here's John's account of what happened.

It started at about 4 pm, when I arrived I was met by Kurgins, Tractorman and Barry a new member in his brilliant white STi. The day really didn't suit, as it rained at most of the event so we decided to run inside for a bit of shelter and some food. After filling our bellies the sun re-appeared so we decided to bail outside for a closer inspection of new members' cars while the weather allowed us to do so.

About 12 cars in total appeared on Monday and here's the list:
Dave Legacy, Fergus Quadcam, Alan RSKB4, Barry STi, JohnM, Dave Tractorman, Ray Kurgins, Johnathon, John Hanlon, Dave Dali, Eoin Gorman, Jason STi RA.

An enjoyable meet (apart from the rain) and most members were gone by 7pm.

Thanks to DaveLegacy for the pics!

Members' Meet - Portlaoise 2nd April 2006

It was sunny, wet, sunny and then wet again and a persistent strong wind carried the distinctive sound of flat-four rumble to Portlaoise. Members arrived from as far as Donegal and West Cork... and everywhere in between.

By the way... this (to the left and holding camera) is Niall - our club photographer who always manages to escape our rogues gallery. So to capture a picture of him is a rare event indeed and therefore newsworthy... ; )

So discussion mainly centred around the new committee's proposals for the new year and to collect subscriptions for 2006 - which are all due now *cough*cough*. Eddie Keating seen here being proudly modelled by this €50 note.

Prize for most interesting Scooby of the day went to Paul's very sparkly MY06 STi Impreza. 2.5 litres to play with now... nice! 8)
